Vehicle- and Duty Scheduling
The range of tasks required by transport operators and transport authorities are complex and mulit-layered.
On one hand there are the operational matters, which require management of timetable and vehicle scheduling, duty scheduling and finally personnel- and vehicle deployment. On the other hand, passengers need to be informed of the services available, whether that be from a timetable book, a mobile device or any other display of passenger information. In addition, the focus of a transport authority plays a major role in planning: city transport company/association with high interval frequencies need to factor in different criteria than a regional or local operating company/association. A common factor to all operators is competition and the increasing pressure to reduce costs while maintaining or improving the high quality passengers expect.
