Future Prospects SmartMMI

In cooperation with four partners from industry and research, MENTZ is developing the passenger information of the future.

STARTING POINT

Passengers use the mobilty services of public transport (PT) in a variety of different ways. Existing systems do not meet these needs as flexibly as they could or are not convenient enough.

THE IDEA

Model- and context-based mobility information, or “MMI”, shows information on smart public displays in public transport vehicles and at stops . Passengers can retrieve sensitive data related to individual mobility behavior on their mobile device using a customizable app.

Passengers can configure the app workspace to fit their individual needs (left image). In addition, passengers get the latest notifications in real-time, like when incidents or delays occur (center image). This allows passengers the option to plan alternative routes or hop onto a different vehicle to get to their destination.

Clicking on a trip displays futher details, like stops along the way, tickets or maps for parts of the trip where walking is required (right image).
