Research Project DELTa has started
Knowing what a trip costs on public transport, beyond transport authority and state borders
In cooperation with nine other partners, MENTZ is developing the passenger information of the future.
STARTING POINT
The exact cost of a trip can be quickly identified for specific public transport network. But if the trip extends beyond transport authority and state borders, passengers are left to figure things out.
IMPLEMENTATION
Since January 1, 2022, the DELTa research project has supplemented existing journey planning systems in the three German Brown Coal Regions – Lusatia, Central German, and Rhenish – with regional and national fare information.
FUNDING
As part of mFUND, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport has supported research and development projects related to data-based digital innovations for Mobility 4.0 since 2016. Project funding is complimented by active professional networking between stakeholders from government, business, and research and the provision of open data through the mCLOUD portal. Additional information can be found here (in German).
MENTZ’S CONTRIBUTION
The DELTa application partners that use MENTZ software are thus able to generate or collect relevant data and to expand their journey planning portals to include the developed fare calculation features during the demonstration phase of the project.
After the project has been completed, the demonstrated functionalities can be implemented for other DELFI systems.
