Our Christmas Event: Donations instead of a Xmas-party
MENTZ GmbH is supporting the fight against blood cancer in cooperation with the DKMS (German Bone Marrow Donor Center). Employees at MENTZ can register as stem cell donors and be typified. MENTZ covers the costs for its registered employees. “Social commitment has a long tradition at MENTZ and many of our colleagues are involved in social and community activities. In this special year, we have decided to support DKMS instead of having a Christmas party,” says Managing Director Christoph Mentz.
Every 15 minutes, a person in Germany is diagnosed with blood cancer. Many of these patients are in urgent need of a stem cell transplant. Without a suitable donor, Leukemia proceeds fatally, independently of the age of the patient.
Registered donors are sent a simple cotton swab. Together with a form, the test stick is then returned to DKMS. The evaluation of the test data and the creation of a donor database is not paid for by the health insurance companies. Therefore, the DKMS depends on private donations and cooperation with companies. Matching and healthy stem cells can save lives! More information about the DKMS is available here: https://www.dkms.de
